Proofread
Correct grammar, spelling, typographical errors, misnumbering or mislabeling, incorrect word usage and subject-verb disagreement are the critical ingredients of our professional proofread. Scripture reference and Bible translation accuracy proofreading also available upon request.
Copyright
Literary Rights Copyright is a form of protection provided by the laws of the United States to the authors of "original works of authorship", including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and certain other intellectual works. This protection is available to both published and unpublished works. For a listing of copyright forms, visit http://www.copyright.gov/forms/
ISBN (International Standard Book Number)
The ISBN is a unique machine-readable 10-digit identification number, which marks and identifies any book unmistakably. The purpose of the ISBN is to establish and identify one title from one specific publisher and is unique to that edition, allowing for more efficient marketing of products by booksellers, libraries, universities, wholesalers and distributors.
To apply for the ISBN number for your book, visit http://www.isbn.org/standards/home/isbn/us/application.asp
Web Domain Name
Your website is your electronic business card. It is an essential business tool. The first thing you need to do when creating a website for your book is to get your own domain name. A domain name is your address on the web. It's the information that customers type in to find your website. You should first of all purchase and register your personal name as a web domain name (if it is still available). You may also choose to purchase and register the title of your book (if it is still available). For low-priced, quality web domain purchasing, visit www.godaddy.com or www.registerfly.com
Cover Treatments
Lamination
Book covers play a vital role in selling your book. While a good design and crisp imaging are essential, lamination is invaluable for durability. At Bethany Press, we use film lamination designed specifically to negate the effect of curl caused by moisture, so that the covers lay very flat. As an added value, this protective film is highly durable and provides an attractive finish to book covers. Available in both matte and gloss finishes, lamination is the superior option for book covers. It is the better alternative to Ultra Violet (UV) coating or varnish.
MatteKote
For an effective combination of matte and gloss finishes, we recommend the MatteKote process. MatteKote is our proprietary cover finishing process that is more resistant to scuffing than the traditional matte lamination/spot UV combination. Since MatteKote is applied on press over lay-flat gloss lamination, it is capable of reproducing a dot structure that is currently not achievable with other methods.
Foil
Add a touch of brilliance to any book cover with foil. Most often used to enhance the appearance of the book title or author's name, foil comes in a variety of colors, though gold and silver are most popular. Foil is applied to the finished cover using a combination of heat and pressure.
Embossing
The creation of a three-dimensional design or image on paper is known as embossing. Heat and pressures reshapes the surface of the paper to create the image. Single, multi-level, beveled, and sculptured are the styles of embossing. Embossing can be done on plain paper or combined with ink, images, or foil for special effects.
Compare Costs of Cover Treatments
Gloss lamination is the most cost effective. Matte lamination is slightly more expensive. MatteKote, foil and emboss are more costly features. When considering cover treatments for your book, weigh the value and the cost of the various options and consider what is best for your market and your budget.
